Elrina Van Zyl

Founder & Practice Principal

Elrina van Zyl

DIP IBLM/BLMS Cert KHT (Seoul) Cert Mummy MOT practitioner

Elrina is a Chartered and State registered physiotherapist with almost 25 years experience and one of the first practitioners in the country to be board certified in Lifestyle Medicine, a new speciality that uses evidence based lifestyle therapeutic approaches to prevent, treat and often reverse the most prevalent chronic diseases present in modern society. For example, cardio vascular disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, hypertension, high cholesterol, stroke and some cancers.

She is also a member of the Acupuncture Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) and holds her certification in Korean hand therapy from Seoul enabling her to treat a very wide variety of conditions not normally treated by physiotherapists. Her interest in acupuncture started due to dry needling for musculo-skeletal conditions and she subsequently explored this fascinating treatment and uses it daily in treatments for a wide variety of condition – either solely or in conjunction with physiotherapy modalities.

She was the among the first group of Mummy MOT practitioners to qualify and now brings specialist post natal physiotherapy and rehabilitation to her clients as well as training with a Hartley street biomechanics practice in BioPelvic neurodynamics to get cutting edge techniques to her patients. She is a member of the PGOP and treats a wide variety of pelvic health issues in women ranging from incontinence and sexual dysfunction to helping them with the issues surrounding infertility and menopause.

Originally trained in South Africa, she has since worked with some of the top knee, shoulder and back surgeons in London and still trains with top surgeons and practitioners monthly to keep her skills current.

Elrina has evolved as a practitioner over the years with a special interest in complex chronic pain and health conditions which has subsequently brought about her interest in preventing, treating and reversing chronic conditions with lifestyle medicine. Her firm belief is that prevention is better than cure and that knowledge is power – through education and support, clients can be given back control over their health and quality of life.
